Stand Up Jet Ski
What a Blast! If you want to go fast with almost nothing between you and the water, except a stand up jet ski, than these things are for you. Weighing in at approx. 300 lbs and pushing 75 to 100 horse power, these machines flat out move. You stand, (or for those with no balance, sit or kneel) right at water level bolting across the water at speeds of 30 to 40 mph and on some machines even more. Riding a stand up jet ski is great, but falling off is just as fun. If you are going fast enough you feel like that rock that you recently skipped bouncing 1,2,3,4 or more times before you sink laughing at the numbers you counted off. Then comes the work. When you fall off of a stand up jet ski usually you have a little swim to get back to your machine. With some models they have a system to allow the stand up jet ski to stay running in a circle until you can get to that circle and wait till the machine comes back to you, but on most models you are now tethered to the ignition switch and when you leave your ski the tether then kills the engine allowing it to drift so you can catch up. Getting back on is no problem for most of us. Just give it the gas a hang on (make sure the draw string on your shorts are tied or you will blow them right off!). Once you get moving you just climb back up. As long as you are moving the jet ski will stay afloat and mostly balance itself. Once you have conquered balance and control, things get interesting. Looking for big boats and bigger wakes becomes your next goal. Catching a lot of air is what seems to be most popular. This is just as much fun for the boaters to watch as it is for the rider to perform due to the not always expected submarining. With a stand up jet ski weighing so little yet being so fast it is not hard to get them under water. They will not run very long before they run out of air but just the thrill of disappearing under water when you are not suppose to or expected to is quite a feeling. Other pleasures of a stand up jet ski involve the rooster. All jet skis put out quite a rooster under the right circumstances. But a stand up jet ski being so maneuverable makes it like having the worlds greatest super soaker that you never have to refill. Stand up jet skis are also very convenient to take to the lake, river, ocean, where ever you choose due to their compact size and weight. Even if there is no ramp available, two guys can easily carry them right in the water. Rivers are a bit more hazardous if you don’t know what items exist below the surface. At cruising speed 1’ of water is plenty to keep going but a dive off would be hazardous and trying to get going in shallow water is tough due to the risks of sucking rocks into the impeller from the bottom even in 2’ of water. Stand up jet skis are best in kept in at least 5 of more feet of water. Stand up jet skies have unlimited potential for an amazing good time. Weather you pleasures are to just beet the heat for the summer, or to live on the wild side and tame the wildest waves you can find, the choice is yours. Just make sure to take lots of pictures so you can savior the good times.
